We live in a wonderful age. Its 10:00am on a friday morning I’m lounging around in my PJ’s with a cup of coffee, I’ve set aside a couple hours to play badugi online. Sure I’ve lost half my buy-in but no matter, these guys are really bad
I think one of them is quite drunk, one of them is playing at work and trying to hide the fact from his boss. Only one other chappy seems to even know the rules of the game. By the time my son wakes up from his nap I’m confident I’ll have won my money back and then some.
Where you’ll end up playing badugi is largely dependent on your country of residence.
If you live in a civilized part of the world you have more choices than some of us (but I’m not bitter about it). If you live in the US on the other hand then you don’t have as many choices — YET! — but you can still find plenty of opportunities to play the game.
Where to Play Badugi Online
Civilized Countries
*Pokerstars: Pokerstars is and has been the gold standard of online poker for most of the century. It also happens to present the most opportunities to play Badugi as a cash game or in the form of a tournament. If you live in a civilized where to play badugi online is a simple . Though it might be worth your time to check out the Merge network below for the very generous sign up bonus packages (after you have cleared your signup bonus at Poker Stars of course).
The U.S.A.
The only other place you can play badugi online is the Merge network of poker sites. There are cash games and the occassional tourney. All three of sites below are “skins” on the Merge network. Meaning if you login and play at Lock poker you could be playing people from Carbon poker and vice versa.
*Lock Poker: By far my preferred site on the merge network due to the ease of deposit for US players. Also they have very good software and an excellent VIP program.
*Carbon Poker: Also highly recommended. I’ve had some trouble depositing here in the past, but their service rivals Lock if you can manage to get some funds online.
*Aced Poker: My 3rd recommendation from the Merge network. I have no 1st hand experience with Aced but it gets good reviews and I would imagine its service is very similar to that offered by Lock and Carbon.
As a US player you can always start with one site then move down the line if you have trouble depositing. Or if you want to clear sign up bonuses on various sites. It is perfectly allowable to have accounts on more than one site in the Merge network. Bookmark this page in order to return to try out different Badugi sites.
Have fun! Now go feed the dog!
